Japanese Koi Fish Sizes and Basic Varieties




Japanese Koi Fish have many varieties here are the 17 varieties accepted by the 20th All Japan Nishiki-Goi Show held in Tokyo in 1988. British and American dealers usually classify 13 varieties. At most show there are arguments about the categorization of some Koi.

Japanese Koi Fish 8 Size System

  1. Up to 18cm (7”).
  2. Up to 20 cm (8”).
  3. Up to 25 cm (10”).
  4. Up to 30 cm (12”).
  5. Up to 35 cm (14”).
  6. Up to 40 cm (16”).
  7. Up to 45 cm (18”).
  8. Up to 50 cm (20”).
  9. Up to 55 cm (22”).
  10. Up to 60 cm (24”).
  11. Up to 65 cm (26”).
  12. Up to 70 cm (28”).
  13. Up to 75 cm (30”).
