40 Watt Pondmaster UV Clarifier

Ultraviolet sterilizers, or clarifiers as thery are also known, work by passing pond algae water close to an ultraviolet lamp that breaks down pond algae cells. Ultraviolet sterilizers are extremely effective when used correctly and are the most popular form of long-term pond algae preventative and Koi pond maintenance. Water passing through the UV unit should be as clean as possible and will ideally have been passed through a koi pond filter first. Prefiltering the water before subjecting it to UV light achieves two things. First, the pond algae is less likely to be obscured from the UV light by clumps of particulate and plant matter. The 'kill rate' will therefore be far higher than if the UV has to penetrate less clear water. Secondly, non-filtered water may cause the UV to clog and will greatly increase the time you have to spend on pond cleaning and Koi pond maintenance.

I've used this product for: less than 1 year Comments:
This works great for my pond setup! I installed this UV sterilizer submerged in-line between my submerged filter and submerged pump. My water was so green during installation I did it blind. Within 2 days the water was significantly clear. After one week crystal clear! And still working great after 1 month. I no longer have to treat pond with chemicals. My pond size is 1000 gals w/ flow rate of 1300+gph (1600gph rated pump). Pond size is 10 x 10 x 2ft. Knowing what I know now aboout UV sterilizers I would have bought before builing my pond. But, even so, it was a simple retro-fit which took less than 1 hour from box to pond. And as I become more educated about ponds, koi, etc. I still find The Water Garden a great value for on-line shopping. This includes both price and service.
